Arik Poremba, PT, DPT

Dr. Arik Poremba, PT, DPT owner and founder of RACE, is a licensed Physical Therapist specializing in biomechanics and sports rehabilitation. Arik has extensive experience treating patients with orthopedic and sports injuries and is a certified Kinesio Taping practitioner as well as a USATF Level I certified coach. He specializes in manual therapy including myofascial release and trigger point therapy to reduce muscle tension; joint mobilization techniques to correct body alignment; sport-specific conditioning; and, core stability and strengthening to enhance muscular balance and correct posture. His experience as a long-distance runner and endurance athlete enables him to assist individuals to maximize their performance levels.

A member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Kinesio Taping Association (KTA), and USA Track and Field (USATF), Arik travels around the country providing continued education seminars on Running Kinametics and Gait Analysis. He has served as a guest lecturer at the School of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis. Additionally, he served as the physical therapy doctor for St. Louis Basketball Academy and Webster University’s track and field team where he oversaw injury prevention and treatment, as well as the strength and conditioning program.

Arik earned a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy at Maryville University in St. Louis and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Institute of Health Professions in Boston.

Jaime Boswell, MPT

Jaime, a licensed physical therapist, earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Physical Therapy at Maryville University in St. Louis.

She has 10+ years experience treating patients with orthopedic and sports injuries, post operative, chronic pain, as well as balance and vestibular conditions. She specializes in manual therapy including myofascial release and joint mobilizations, trigger point therapy, core/postural strengthening, and balance and vestibular rehab.

Jamie is also a certified GoLo Golf Performance Specialist and has extensive experience training golfers achieve perfect golf swing through postural and core strengthening.

Jaime has been active with sports, running, and strength training since high school. She enjoys running half marathons as well as 5Ks.

Megan Woolever, PTA, MT

Megan earned her associates degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) as well as her Certificate of Massage at Lake Land College in Illinois.  She has experience in orthopedic rehabilitation focusing on therapeutic exercises and massage.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as well as the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.  Megan ran track and cross country in school and enjoys recreational running and activities.

Jennifer Gapin, Ph.D.

Dr. Jennifer Gapin is a member of the Kinesiology faculty at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and serves as an Assistant Professor in Sport and Exercise Behavior. She received her Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a specialization in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, her M.S. degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana, and her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

Jen has been providing sport psychology services to athletes, teams, and coaches at all age and competition levels since 2005. Prior to moving to St. Louis, she worked as a consultant in Miami, Florida and for Wake Forest University athletics in North Carolina. She is a Certified Consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (CC-AASP) and currently provides supervision and mentoring to prospective sport and exercise psychology consultants.

In addition to her primary work with runners and endurance athletes, she has experience with individual athletes and teams at the high school, NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and adult amateur level in a variety of sports including wrestling, swimming, lacrosse, soccer, golf, tennis and crew.  She often works in conjunction with sports medicine professionals to facilitate athletes’ optimal recovery from injuries. Jen also serves as the sport and exercise psychology consultant for the SIUE Weight Management Clinic.

Jen is an accomplished runner, with a marathon P.R. of 3:04. She is an avid researcher and has published numerous papers in professional journals, with several focusing on the connection between running, body image and disordered eating.

Micky Kaufman, USATF Level II Running Coach

Micky has been coaching cross country and track and field for over ten years at the youth, high school, collegiate and post-collegiate levels. Micky was a standout high school runner, a 2-time NAIA national Qualifier in college, and still continues to train and compete recreationally. His true passion is now in coaching others and his experience as a runner enables him to assist his clients in reaching their performance goals.

Micky holds a degree in Physical Education and Health with a minor in Coaching from Graceland University. He is a Level II certified endurance coach through the United States of America Track and Field Association (USATF) and is currently working on his Level III certification. Micky is also the Head Cross Country and Track and Field coach at Maryville University of St. Louis.

Maureen Conley, NP, USATF Level I Running Coach

Maureen has over five years of coaching experience and is currently an Assistant Cross Country and Track Coach at Maryville University of St. Louis.  She was a NCAA Division III cross country and track athlete at Maryville University (2002-2006) where she was a Conference champion and NCAA provisional qualifier.

She earned a bachelors and masters degree in Nursing from Maryville University (BSN, 2006; MSN-FNP, 2010). Maureen is a Level I certified running coach through the USATF. She has a passion for coaching athletes of all levels and enjoys competing in any race whether it’s a chocolate milk mile, an 8 mile open water swim, marathon or triathlon.

Timothy Makubuya, Ph.D. Candidate

Timothy, a former NAIA distance runner at Missouri Baptist University and a 2007 NAIA International Championship qualifier, has over eight years of coaching experience. A native if Uganda, Timothy has a passion for running as well as coaching.

He earned his bachelors in Sports Medicine and a masters degree in Sport Management from Missouri Baptist University. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Teaching and Learning Processes at the University of Missouri in St. Louis, where he also doubles as an Adjunct Faculty teaching courses in Health and Physical Education. Timothy is a faculty member for the World Instructor Training Schools and works as a Personal Training Instructor at St. Charles Community College.

Timothy, a USATF Level I Certified coach, is a member of American College of Sports Medicine and a member of the Track and Filed/Cross Country coaching staff at Maryville University. Additionally, he is one of the area coordinators for the Healthy Kids Run Series in St. Louis.

Hannah

Hannah Tucker, B.S.

Hannah earned her bachelors degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at Saint Louis University and is currently pursuing her license as a certified personal trainer through National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).  She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Idea Health and Fitness Association. She has attended Idea’s World Fitness Conventions for the last several years.

Hannah is a recreational runner and has completed numerous 10k’s and half marathons.
